Admissions

The admissions policy of Anami Montessori School is in keeping with the educational concepts of Dr. Maria Montessori. We strive to serve a broad range of socioeconomic, religious, cultural and racial groups. We attempt to have an even distribution of ages and genders in each class. The school welcomes all students regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, gender or disability.

The Application Process

1. Observation

In keeping with the close partnership between the school and parents, we request that parents considering enrollment of their child first visit one of our classes for an hour- long observation. These appointments are held Monday through Thursday, begin at 9:00 AM, and are for one adult at a time. To schedule an appointment, please call the school’s office at 704-556-0042.

2. Application

Please fill out an application and submit it with your application fee ($75).

3. Meeting with Parents and Director

The school’s director meets with both the child’s parents to cover more information on the school and its programs, share the school’s expectations, and also to answer parents’ questions.

4. Meeting with Child and Teacher

One of our teachers will meet with your child to determine his/her readiness.

Admissions General:

If space is available, children are accepted at any time during the school year.

Primary Program:

Criteria for enrollment include that applicants be both totally toilet trained and at least three years old by the month of their enrollment.

Elementary Program:

Most of the students in Anami’s elementary program are graduates of our own primary program, with a few transferring from other Montessori schools. Other children (with no previous Montessori experience) are considered for acceptance, space permitting, and if the child’s enrollment is a good fit for both the class and the entering child. Although we consider each case individually, when children do enter the elementary from outside Anami they usually enter at the younger end of the age spectrum.
